The Mirror understands that Liverpool are set to make a move for Juventus star Claudio Marchisio.
New Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is drawing up a list of potential targets for when the transfer window reopens in January, and the midfield is one area he is looking at strengthening.
Marchisio has been previously linked with a transfer to the Premier League with Manchester United looking the most likely to land his services two summers ago.
Aside from a season long loan at Empoli in 2007/08, the twenty-nine year old has spent his whole career with Juve, racking up over three hundred appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring thirty-five goals.
He has been part of the squad that has won four consecutive league titles while he also played in last season’s Champions League final defeat to Barcelona.
Internationally, he has been capped fifty-four times for Italy and played at both the 2010 World Cup finals in 2010 and last year’s tournament in Brazil.
