Liverpool in time race to sign Kabak

Liverpool are in a race against time to complete the signing of Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04 before the window closes today (Monday), according to multiple sources.

The story is pretty much the same from every source. Having agreed a deal to bring in Ben Davies from Preston North End, the Premier League champions are desperate to add another centre*back to their ranks and enable at least on of Fabinho and captain Jordan Henderson to return his natural role in midfield. Duje Caleta-Car of Olympique Marseille has been linked strongly, but the Ligue 1 side pulled the plug on the sale due to being unable to secure a suitable replacement.

The same problem exists regarding the proposed move for Kabak. Schalke have apparently identified Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi as a potential replacement for the 20-year-old, but it remains to be seen if they’re able to conclude the signing of the former Germany international before 5PM – the deadline for any incoming deals for German clubs.
