Liverpool are interested in signing Todd Cantwell of Norwich City, according to various sources.
The 21-year-old has caught the eyes of top clubs in England with excellent performances throughout the season. Nailed to the bottom of the Premier League table at the moment, the Canaries are prime candidates for relegation at the end of the campaign, but Cantwell was always likely to have options to stay in the top flight as a highly talented, versatile midfielder.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently put pen to paper on a new contract, set to keep him at the helm of the reigning European champions until 2024, which probably means he is determined to oversee the team rebuild once the current crop of players pass into decline. A player like Cantwell could surely have a place in his plans.
Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are also interested, but Liverpool have stepped up their efforts to make the deal happen since the closing of the January transfer window and are now considered the front-runners of the race. However, they will be aware that Norwich would demand at least £30 million for Cantwell, regardless of whether they stay in the league or not.
