According to a recent report from L’Equipe, Liverpool are keeping a very close eye on Toulouse youngster Mathieu Goncalves heading into the January transfer window. The Reds are hoping to bring in a few new faces during the upcoming window in order to beef out their squad a little bit ahead of what is bound to be a busy few months as they compete in three major competitions.
Goncalves, at the age of just 18, still has a long way to go before he is considered to be a fully developed defender – but he has certainly been taking the right steps under the guidance of Toulouse.
Jurgen Klopp has always shown a keen interest in bringing through the stars of tomorrow and helping them to grow, but there are certainly questions to be asked regarding just how feasible it is for Goncalves to secure a spot in the starting XI – or even get any minutes whatsoever.
