Liverpool join chase for Iturbe

Sky Italia is reporting that Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign FC Porto forward Juan Manuel Iturbe.

The Reds need cover for star forwards Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge and they have reportedly set their sights on the Argentine starlet.

According to Sky Italia, Liverpool officials have opened talks with the player’s representatives with a view of luring Iturbe to Anfield in the summer.

Even if the forward is still owned by FC Porto, Hellas Verona have the option to buy out his contract for €15 million, and they are expected to activate the clause before cashing in on him.

Liverpool could, however, face stiff competition from Italian giants AS Roma and Juventus, who are also believed to be interested.

Juan Manuel Iturbe, 20, joined Hellas Verona on loan from FC Porto in the summer and has since bagged 5 goals in 23 Serie A outings for the Gialloblu.
