Liverpool are keen on adding Southampton’s Adam Lallana to their midfield as they look to maintain their Premier League title push, the Metro understands.
The 25 year old, who is in line to make his England debut against Chile at Wembley on Friday evening, has been a key part in a Saints side that currently sits in third place in the top flight, one point and one place behind Brendan Rodgers’ men.
While Southampton are exceeding all expectations, a top four finish is the minimum requirement for the Merseyside club, who are in their best position to qualify for the Champions League for five years.
Either side could end the weekend after next on top of the league, with the Reds facing Everton at Goodison Park while Southampton travel to leaders Arsenal.
Liverpool are currently priced at 10/11 to achieve a top four finish ahead of Southampton, who are a 16/1 shot.
