Liverpool keen on Ligue 1 star
Liverpool are weighing up move for Dijon midfielder Benjamin Corgnet, according to L’Equipe.
The Reds are planning to reinforce the squad in January so as to keep their top 4 bid alive and are already making transfer moves.
According to L’Equipe, they have set their sights on Dijon midfielder Benjamin Corgnet and are expected to make a formal bid for the player’s services.
The Reds could face a stiff competition from Aston Villa, Newcastle and Blackburn, who have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old.
Corgnet has been in remarkable form this season, having scored 7 goals in 18 Ligue 1 games.
Dijon boss Patrice Carteron recently revealed that the player would probably be sold in the summer, but January exit remains an option.
The French newspaper also reveals that Liverpool are tracking Nantes hotshot Jawad Boukabous.
Goetze hints at new Borussia deal
Borussia Dortmund superstar Mario Goetze has poured cold water on rumours that he will be leaving the Bundesliga champions.
The 19-year-old midfielder has exploded last season and has since been linked with a number of big European clubs.
Manchester United, Arsenal and Real Madrid have all been linked with the Germany international, but the player is so far fully focused on his current club.
Goetze has a contract until June 2014 at Signal Iduna Park, but he admits he could stay beyond that date.
“Of course I can imagine extending my contact at Dortmund,” Goetze tod German daily Bild.
“I have always said how at home I feel here. And nothing has happened to change that. I have my family and friends here.
“And the whole Borussia Dortmund package with the coach and the team is simply outstanding.”
Jan Vertonghen not rushing out Ajax exit
Ajax captain Jan Vertonghen reveals that he is unlikely to leave the club in January, despite heavy interest from abroad.
The Belgian defender was widely tipped to leave Amsterdam this winter, but it looks as though that is not going to happen.
Despite interest from a number of high-profile clubs, the player says he is not too keen on leaving.
“So, anyway I still have half a year,” Vertonghen was quoted as saying at Ajax’s official website.
“I’ll see what happens. Everyone knows that I have ambitions, but summer departure is not my only desire.
”I would like to join a bigger club in the future, but it could also happen that Ajax extend my contract.”
The 24-year-old’s contract with Ajax expires in June 2013, but everything suggests that the player will be sold next summer.
