Liverpool are favourites to sign Newcastle United midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, according to the Telegraph.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp is busy refreshing his squad as he prepares for his first full season in charge of the Merseyside outfit and has identified the twenty-five year old as his top target.
The Netherlands international only moved to St James’s Park last summer and impressed with eleven goals in thirty-eight appearances though he was unable to help them avoid relegation to the Championship.
Prior to his move to England he spend four seasons with PSV Eindhoven having began his career with fellow Eredivise side Feyenord while internationally has been capped thirty times for his country, scoring six goals.
He was part of Louis Van Gaal’s squad for the 2014 World Cup finals in Brazil, where the Netherlands were beaten in the semi-finals by Argentina while he was named the Dutch footballer of the year at the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
