Premier League title contenders Liverpool are said to be hot on the heels of the 20-year-old United States international Westn McKennie.
The talented midfielder is currently playing for Schalke in the Bundesliga. McKennie is a versatile player who is comfortable playing in a deeper defensive role as well as being pushed further upfield behind the striker.
The youngster already raked up 45 appearances for Schalke where his composure, quality and maturity have earned him quite a few suitors.
Sky Sports Germany reports McKennie is currently being followed by a ‘top Premier League side’ with The Sun adding that it is Liverpool who are already mulling a £20 million bid for the midfielder.
The Reds are not expected to make any additions during the January transfer window and Weston McKennie is obviously seen as a summer target for the Anfield-based club.
Liverpool play host to Crystal Palace on Saturday and are given paltry 1/5 betting odds to claim a victory at Anfield.
