A report from the Metro today suggests that Liverpool have been put on high alert as Ricardo Quaresma has reportedly rejected a contract offer from his current club Besiktas.

The Portuguese winger has less than twelve months left on his current deal at the Turkish club and is currently training with the youth team after a fall-out with the clubs chairman due to his wage demands.

It now seems as though Quaresma will be leaving Besiktas in the summer transfer window, and Liverpool are ready to snap him up as a free agent.

The winger is desperate to prove himself in the English Premier League after failing to secure a permanent move to Chelsea in 2012 – despite impressing in a six-month loan period.

It is thought that he is demanding 80,000-a-week, something that the Reds would be willing to pay as there would of course be no transfer fee.

However, Brendan Rodgers is likely to assess the player’s attitude as he has fallen out with a number of clubs now, and does not want the same thing happening at Liverpool.

There is no doubt that Quaresma is a talent that could be just the kind of player Rodgers needs.
