Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Liverpool are planning a January bid for Internacional striker Leandro Damiao.
Damiao, 23, has been heavily linked with a move to Europe, and it appears he has finally decided to leave his current club for greener pastures.
While Tottenham have already had an official bid rejected for the player’s services, Liverpool seem to have moved to the front of the queue.
The Reds are desperate to sign a new striker in January to help Luis Suarez up front and they believe Damiao would be a perfect strike partner for the Uruguayan.
The only problem is that the Brazilian is not too keen on a move to Premier League as he prefers Italian Serie A.
However, with both Milan and Juventus not yet ready to materialize their interest in the highly rated attacker, Liverpool have got a great chance to snatch Damiao in front of their noses in January.
Internacional value the player at around €20 million, which is well within the Reds’ price range.
