According to the Mirror, Liverpool are at the front of the queue to sign Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne this summer.
The forward has apparently had issues with Napoli head coach Carlo Ancelotti following the club’s elimination in the quarterfinals of the Europa League at the hands of Arsenal, and the relationship between the two of them has been seriously damaged.
Even before all this, Insigne had never ruled out the possibility of one day leaving Naples, where he has spent his entire professional career so far. He quite recently said that at his age (28) there may come an offer he wouldn’t be able to refuse.
Liverpool already boast a formidable front line containing the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, with Xherdan Shaqiri and the soon-to-return Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain also capable of filling in upfront. A potential addition of Insigne to that group would seriously boost competition as well as enable manager Jurgen Klopp give his attacking stars some rest when they need it.
Corriere dello Sport have reported that Napoli would want £60 million for their captain.
