Liverpool lead race for Barella

According to a variety of different reports in Italy, Liverpool are in pole position in the race for Nicolo Barella. The 21 year old midfielder from Cagliari has been heavily linked with a move to a variety of top European clubs, who have been after his signature ever since he burst onto the scene last year.

The main reason Liverpool are considered to be the favourites is because they have a solid working relationship with Cagliari, stemming back to the sale of Ragnar Klavan. If they want to land Barella, however, they’ll need to be willing to pay £35 million for him.

The Reds haven’t exactly been shy when it comes to splashing the cash over the course of the last twelve months, with Jurgen Klopp showing some great optimism in the transfer market. Liverpool have gotten off to a great start in the Premier League this season, and will aim to continue that from now until May.
