Lazio star defender has finally put pen to paper on a new deal with the Serie A high-flying side, according to reports from Italian newspaper Il Messaggero.
Dutch defender has been on a deal expiring this summer and has had plenty of Europe’s biggest clubs vying for his signature, most prominently Liverpool who were keen on landing the quality shot stopper for free next summer.
Former Feyenoord star was also linked with Serie A champions Juventus but his admirers have seemingly received a blow in their pursuit with news of the 25-year-old penning a three-year contract extension worth just £50,000 a week.
Reports have it that Lazio have inserted a £27 million release clause in De Vrij’s new deal which means that possible January departure for the Dutchman is not entirely off the cards.
De Vrij has been a regular performer for Lazio this season accumulating 11 Serie A appearances and scoring two goals along the way.
