Following the shocking news of Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool at the end of the season, Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is one of the names mentioned as a possible replacement for the charismatic German in the Anfield dugout.
Having won the Champions League with Liverpool himself, as one of the heroes of the incredible 2005 final comeback, Alonso’s emotional connection with the Merseyside giants is understandable. However, he has a contract at Leverkusen and he’s doing a remarkable job there, with his team topping the Bundesliga table at the moment.
