Liverpool linked with Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy

Liverpool are interested in signing Alex McCarthy from Southampton in the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk. The report has claimed that new Liverpool manager Arne Slot is eyeing McCarthy as a potential replacement for Caoimhin Kelleher.

Alisson is the number one goalkeeper for Liverpool, with Kelleher as his back-up. However, the Republic of Ireland international could be on the move, so the Reds have identified McCarthy as a potential replacement in McCarthy.

McCarthy is out of contract at Southampton at the end of the month, and Liverpool’s plan is to snap him up on a free transfer. However, TEAMtalk has claimed that the Reds are set to miss out on him. That is because the 34-year-old former Crystal Palace goalkeeper is close to agreeing a new contract with Southampton. The goalkeeper has made 147 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career. He has kept 29 clean sheets in those games.
