(GSM) – Liverpool have made an official bid for Middlesbrough goalkeeper Brad Jones, according to Sky Sports.
New Reds’ manager Roy Hodgson is believed to be keen on bolstering his goalkeeping options and has moved for Jones as he looks to provide firm back-up for first-choice keeper Pepe Reina.
Boro keeper Jones will miss the opening match of the Championship season through suspension. The Australian shot-stopper had missed the World Cup after his son was diagnosed with leukemia.
Jones, who is a product of Boro’s academy, qualifies as a home-grown player under Premier League rules.
