Liverpool make contact for Lille defender Sven Botman

Liverpool are interested in signing Sven Botman from Lille in the January transfer window, according to Foot Mercato. It has been reported by the French news outlet that the defending Premier League champions have already made contact with representatives of the defender.

The report has claimed that Liverpool made contact for Botman back in November and were initially prepared to pay €50 million as transfer fee for the 20-year-old central defender. With Lille struggling financially at the moment following the collapse of the French TV deal, the youngster could now be sold for €30 million.

According to WhoScored, Botman has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 and has made five starts and one substitute appearance in the Europa League for Lille so far this season. During the 2019-20 campaign, the Netherlands Under-20 international centre-back scored two goals and provided four assists in 26 Eredivisie games for Heerenveen during his loan spell from Ajax, according to WhoScored.
