Liverpool are interested in signing Marcelo Brozovic from Inter Milan, according to the Mirror.
It seems the Champions League holders have already contacted Miroslav Bicanic, Brozovic’s agent, in order to sound out a possible move to Merseyside. With the contract of Adam Lallana about to run out, it seems manager Jurgen Klopp is keen to bolster his options in central midfield. He particularly wants to add competition for the ‘number 6’ spot, usually occupied by Fabinho and Jordan Henderson stepping in when required. Brozovic is a specialist defensive midfielder, but he’s also capable of playing in a more advanced role if necessary. A figure of around £52 million has been rumoured as the release clause in his contract, and the Reds are set to try and exploit it.
However, Inter are very keen on keeping the services of the 51-time capped Croatia international, who has played an important role in the revolution under Antonio Conte so far. In order to fend off the interest from Liverpool, they are preparing a new contract for Brozovic to sign, one with better personal terms for the player but without a release clause.
