According to a recent report from Sky Sports, Liverpool are not currently interested in trying to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly. However, if Dejan Lovren was to end up leaving Anfield, they may change their mind on that.
A series of reports had indicated Koulibaly is one of Jurgen Klopp’s most wanted signings, but the strict transfer policy currently in place on Merseyside would ensure they cannot spend more than £60 million on him.
At this moment in time Koulibaly is widely considered to be one of the most exciting prospects in European football, but not to the point where Klopp will break the bank in order to sign him. Virgil van Dijk is quite clearly the main defensive force within the club, and within the Premier League, and a move like this would be a real statement of intent as the Reds prepare to defend their Premier League throne next season.
