The Metro understands that Liverpool have begun discussions with Bayern Munich over the potential transfer of Xherdan Shaqiri.
The midfielder, who played for Switzerland in their come-from-behind win over Ecuador in their World Cup opener in Brasilia on Sunday, has struggled to hold down a first team place under Pep Guardiola, appearing in less than half of the Bundesliga champions’ league games last season.
In total, the 22 year old has scored fifteen goals in sixty-nine appearances in all competitions since moving to Germany from FC Basel in the summer of 2012 while internationally he has nine goals in thirty-three outings for his country.
Liverpool finished second behind Manchester City in the Premier League last season, and they can be backed at a price of 13/2 to go one better and win the division this season.
They begin the 2014/15 campaign on August 16th with a home game against Southampton.
