Daily Express is reporting that Liverpool are ready to submit an official proposal for Espanyol goalkeeper Kiko Casilla.
The Reds are desperate to sign a high-quality keeper to challenge Simon Mignolet for a starting berth, but they seem to have given up on Victor Valdes.
Nevertheless, Liverpool plan to do some shopping in Spain after all as Espanyol’s Kiko Casilla has emerged as their top target.
The Reds are even ready to promise the Spanish goalkeeper regular first team football and have already established initial contact with his agents.
Casilla was recently heavily linked with a return to Real Madrid, but it appears he won’t be rejoining los Blancos now that Iker Casillas has returned to form.
The player’s release clause currently stands at €20 million, although it is Real Madrid who are still entitled to 50% of any transfer fee, which basically means los Merengues can sign the keeper for mere €10 million should they wish to do so.
