Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has asked the powers that be at the club to do all they can to secure the services of Theo Walcott.
The Daily Mail is reporting today that the Anfield club are ready to offer £8m for the England winger as he continues to stall on a new deal at the Emirates.
Many Arsenal fans are keen for Walcott to sign a new deal, but discussions are taking a significant amount of time and this is creating more and more doubt about his future.
With his contract running out next summer, it is being reported that Walcott has rejected a £75,000 five-year deal to stay at Arsenal.
The motivation behind this rejection isn’t necessarily financially motivated either. The 23-year-old wants to switch to a more central striker role as well as have assurances that he will play more regularly.
Liverpool are apparently ready to offer him both and if this is the case, Walcott might be tempted with a move at the end of the season.
This would then keep up the trend of Arsenal selling their best players each year. To avoid this, Arsene Wenger needs to sit down with Walcott and work things out.
After his performance in the 7-5 win over Reading during the week, you can certainly see why this would be worthwhile.
Liverpool will certainly be keeping a close eye on proceedings.
