Liverpool ready to make bid for former Leeds winger

A report from Talk Sport is today suggesting that Liverpool could be ready to make a move for former Leeds United winger Max Gradel in the January transfer window.

The Ivorian came through the ranks at Leicester City and was a key part of the Leeds squad when at Elland Road.

He is currently plying his trade in Ligue 1 with Saint Etienne, who are sitting fourth in the table and just three points off the top spot, so he may not be prepared to head back to England just yet.

The 24-year-old is a winger that can play up-front and often grabs himself a goal or two, something Reds boss Brendan Rodgers appears to be looking for.

The English Premier League is sure to tempt Gradel, especially a move to club of Liverpool’s stature, but after hitting the ground running in France he may see that as the best place to keep his career moving in the right direction.

If he does want out though, Liverpool may have a fight on their hands to secure his services as Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk are keeping tabs on him.

Shakhtar could of course offer him Champions League football, so we shall see what Gradel’s decision is.
