Liverpool have revived thier interest in Blackburn winger David Bentley according to reports in The People, and look to offer £12 million for the England international.
Rafa Benitez has been a keen admirer of the winger for the past few season, and almost every transfer window has seen speculation and rumours of Bentley joining the Merseyside club. Bentley is rumoured to be unsettled at Blackburn and has reportedly turned down offers of a new contract at Ewood Park.
Bentley, 23,  may also be tempted to leave Ewood Park after Blackburn’s failure to qualify for Europe this season. However, Blackburn boss Mark Hughes has so far held off all interest for the winger, and will hope that Bentley can stay on for at least another Premiership campaign, as Blackburn push for European qualification.
Bentley could be set to replace current Liverpool winger Jermaine Pennant, as reports emerge that the winger is likely to leave Anfield this summer, with Newcastle showing keen interest.
The People reports that Liverpool’s £12 million bid may be slightly under Blackburn’s valuation of the player, and a renewed bid of over £15 million would be needed to secure the winger. However, Benitez may deterred from offering higher than £12 million, and look to other targets such as Wigan’s Luis Antonio Valencia if he is rejected.
Bentley, along with Roque Santa Cruz, has been one of Blackburn’s best performers this season, and his contribution this season may be one of the reasons Blackburn managed to achieve a 7th finish in the Premiership this season.
