Liverpool revive Fekir interest?

Liverpool have revived their interest in signing Nabil Fekir from Olympique Lyon, according to several sources.

Fekir’s move to Merseyside was agreed ahead of the World Cup last year for around €52 million, but Liverpool pulled out of the agreement at the eleventh hour due to concerns over his long-standing knee issues. Fekir won the World Cup with France and many speculations appeared over a potential resurrection of the move, but reliable sources mostly claimed it wouldn’t happen.

However, the circumstances surrounding the 25-year-old attacking midfielder seem to have changed significantly. He is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract, and Lyon president Jean Michel Aulas hinted at a possible parting of ways between the player and the club this summer. This means that Fekir should be available now for a fee significantly below the last year’s deal, which is the apparent cause of Liverpool’s revived interest.

According to Romain Collet-Gaudin, a journalist working for Canal+ and Eurosport, the Champions League winners would be willing to pay up to €30 million this time around.
