Liverpool rubbish Walcott rumours; Arsenal, City and Spurs keen on Pjanic

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has dismissed speculation linking the Reds with a January move for Arsenal forward Theo Walcott, Sky Sports understands.

According to reports, Liverpool could be a planning a £10 million move for the 23-year-old England international when the transfer window re-opens in January.

Walcott’s current contract is up at the end of the season and negotiations to extend his deal have stalled in recent weeks.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger hopes to have the contract situation resolved by Christmas.

“There is urgency. We want to sort it out before Christmas, one way or the other,” revealed Wenger.

Arsenal have reportedly offered Walcott a £75,000-a-week, while Liverpool are willing to offer the former Southampton starlet a £100,000-a-week deal, according to The Sun.

When asked about the rumours linking Walcott with a move to Anfield, Rodgers told reporters: “There’s nothing in it. He’s an Arsenal player.”

Arsenal, City and Spurs keen on Pjanic

Premier League trio Arsenal, Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur are all reportedly keen on AS Roma attacking midfielder Miralem Pjanic, Sky Sports reports.

Pjanic, 22, is also attracting interest from AC Milan and Real Madrid.

The Bosnia-Herzegovina international, who joined the Giallorossi on a four-year contract from French giants Olympique Lyonnais in the summer of 2011, is flattered by the interest from abroad, but has insisted that is focused on establishing himself in the starting XI at Roma.

“I have to admit it is nice to hear when your name is mentioned in the same sentence with all these clubs,” Pjanic told SportSport.

“However, at this point I do not want to think too much about a possible transfer in the future. I just want to stabilise myself in the first XI at Roma.”

Since moving to Italy, Pjanic has featured in 34 Serie A matches for AS Roma, tallying three goals and seven assists.

Neymar reveals Barca, Messi ‘dream’

In other news, Santos superstar Neymar has revealed that it would be a ‘dream’ to play alongside FC Barcelona ace Lionel Messi.

The 20-year-old Brazil international has been linked with a move to Barcelona for some time despite being under contract at Santos until 2014.

“To play alongside Messi would be a dream or even just training with him would make me happy,” insisted Neymar, according to Marca.

“For me the three best players in the word are [Andres] Iniesta, Cristiano [Ronaldo] and Messi, but the very best is Messi.

“There is nobody that can do what he can do.”
