Liverpool have signed 16-year-old wonderkid Jordon Ibe from Wycombe Wanderers.
Kenny Dalglish’s side beat off stiff competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United and Fulham to seal the signature for the highly-talented youngster for an initial 750,000 pounds, which could rise to one million pounds.
Goal.com revealed a deal was in place to take Ibe, who has made 11 appearances for the League One club’s first team, to Anfield last week.
Wycombe manager Gary Waddock wanted to keep Ibe, but said the opportunity to switch to Liverpool was too good to turn down.
“It’s a fantastic move for him,” Waddock told Wycombe’s website.
“He’s a phenomenal talent which is why we gave him a chance to show what he can do at first-team level.”
“Obviously we wanted to keep him, but we didn’t want to stand in the way of an opportunity he deserves.”
“I have no doubt in my mind that he will go on to become a big star and I will be keeping a close eye on his progress.”
“I would like to wish him and his family all the best for the future.”
This season has seen Ibe become the youngest player to represent the League One outfit, as well as becoming their youngest scorer in their 124-year history.
