Liverpool and Spurs vying for Onazi

Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are keeping close tabs on Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, reports Il Messaggero.

The Premier League giants have been alerted of the player’s potential and they are hoping to lure him to England in the summer transfer window.

Both Liverpool and Spurs plan to complete the deal ahead of the 2014 World Cup, where Onazi is set to star for Nigeria.

The 21-year-old is on the verge of nailing down a regular starting berth at Stadio Olimpico and he has shown a great deal of potential this season.

Onazi went on to make 28 league appearances, starting 18 of those matches, and scoring 1 goal in the process.

The talented midfielder has won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and is expected to play a key role for the Super Eagles in Brazil.

Nigeria play their first game at the tournament against Iran and they are 1/1 favourites to claim maximum points.
