(GSM) – New England Sports Ventures (NESV) may withdraw their £300million offer to buy Liverpool if the club is deducted nine points, according to reports.
Sky Sports reported an NESV source as saying that a nine-point deduction, which could automatically come with the club’s possible dip into administration, would drive the potential new owners out of making a bid.
The source said that the point-deduction would be a ‘deal-breaker’ despite the fact that NESV’s bid was approved by the Premier League on Friday.
The takeover is now in doubt following a legal dispute between the Liverpool board and the club’s co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.
Liverpool could be deducted nine points by the Premier League if their parent company, Kop Holdings, goes into administration.
And administration is still a possibility, as stated by current Liverpool chairman Martin Broughton.
