Liverpool are stepping up their efforts to sign Spanish goalkeeper Victor Valdes from Barcelona, reports Catalan daily Sport.
Considering that Pepe Reina is not expected to return to Anfield when his loan spell at Napoli ends, the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is looking to sign a new keeper to provide competition for summer signing Simon Mignolet.
Catalan newspaper Sport has suggested that Liverpool have joined the race for Barcelona star Victor Valdes, who is set to quit Camp Nou on a free transfer in the summer.
The same source claims that the Reds recently presented a new offer for the 32-year-old in an attempt to win the chase for his signature.
Victor Valdes has decided to look for a new challenge after spending his entire professional career at Camp Nou, making 381 La Liga appearances in total.
The Spain international went on to win six La Liga titles, three Champions League trophies and two European Super Cups among other accolades.
