Portuguese newspaper Record has suggested that Sporting Lisbon striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel is expected to leave Estadio Jose Alvalade in the summer transfer window.
The highly rated forward has seen his stock rise a great deal since he arrived at the club from Utrech, and it appears the time has come for the player to say goodbye to the Lions.
According to Record, Sporting Lisbon chiefs plan to cash in on Van Wolfswinkel in the summer due to club’s difficult financial situation.
The 24-year-old is held in high regard by top European clubs, with Manchester United, Liverpool, Valencia and Spartak Moscow all keen.
Van Wolfswinkel has a contract until June 2016 at Estadio Jose Alvalade and a €22 million release clause, meaning he will not be sold on the cheap.
Since joining Sporting in a €5 million deal from Utrecht, the striker has scored 22 goals in 47 Primeira Liga appearances for the Lions.
