Liverpool target relaxed about future

A report from the Metro suggests that Liverpool could be handed a boost in their hopes to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar in the January transfer window.

This has come after talks between the Dutchman and Schalke over a new-deal have stalled of late, meaning that he could be on his way out of the German side come the start of 2013.

Huntelaar’s current contract runs out next year and Schalke are keen to get the issue sorted to avoid him leaving on a free in just under a year

However, if the two parties cannot agree terms, then the Holland international may be sold by the Bundesliga outfit in the next transfer window, so they do manage to get some money for one of their prized assets.

The 29-year-old does not seem too concerned about the speculation, and is focused on performing for his current club at the moment.

Liverpool are the team that are said to be put on high alert after this news, with Brendan Rodgers keen to bring him to the English Premier League to boost his attacking options.

Huntelaar was the leading scorer in the Bundesliga last season, scoring 29 goals – making him an extremely highly-rated front-man.
