Liverpool to enter Tchouameni race?

Aurelien Tchouameni has been attracting a lot of attention with fine performances for AS Monaco this season. Real Madrid and Juventus were said to be keeping a close eye on him a couple of months ago, but more recently reports are emerging of interest coming from the Premier League. Chelsea were believed to be leading the race ahead of Manchester United, but according to the Daily Express, Liverpool are looking to take advantage of the difficult situation the Champions League holders are currently in to step into their shoes.

The only position Liverpool arguably lack proper cover for is the one currently played by Fabinho as the only recognized defensive midfielder. That is where the 22-year-old seven-cap France international would come in. This season, Tchouameni has made a total of 41 appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and contributing two assists.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s need is probably more desperate, with 33-year-old Nemanja Matic, their only recognized player for the role, far from his best days at the moment.
