Liverpool, or more specifically, manager Jurgen Klopp, seem to be interested in Sander Berge of Genk.
The Premier League leaders met with the Belgian side twice in the Champions League in the last few weeks, and apparently, Berge was a player that caught the eye of the charismatic German. According to Norwegian outlet VG, Klopp approached Berge after the game and told him he was a very interesting player. The 21-year-old was, naturally, thrilled about Klopp’s words and speculations about his potential move to Anfield arose immediately.
Berge is a specialist defensive midfielder, though he is capable of performing well in more advanced roles too. As such, he could perhaps provide cover for Fabinho, with the Brazilian the only one of that ilk at Klopp’s disposal at the moment. Jordan Henderson, Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum have been used there occasionally, but they are all better employed in box-to-box roles.
Berge has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Genk this season, scoring twice.
