A report from the Metro is suggesting that Pepe Reina’s representatives are set to hold talks with Liverpool over his future, following interest from Barcelona.
The Spanish goalkeeper has been with the Reds for a long time now and is regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers that the English Premier League has to offer.
His performances over the years seem to have caught the eye of the La Liga-leaders and they could try and bring him to the Nou Camp in the summer transfer window.
Barca’s current number one, Victor Valdes, is entering his final years as a player and the Spanish giants want a replacement in soon.
The 30-year-old may be allowed to leave Liverpool as well as Brendan Rodgers has been linked with young English goalkeeper Jack Butland in recent months.
It is thought that the player will know a lot more once these talks have bee held and he knows where he stands with the Merseyside outfit.
Reina would like the opportunity to head back to Barcelona as he would of course challenge for titles and play Champions League football once more, but whether a deal can be done remains to be seen.
We shall see.
