Liverpool are expected to make a move for Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde at the end of the season, according to AS.
Having had several unpleasant experiences with Los Blancos in the Champions League since that infamous 2018 final in Kyiv, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is surely aware of the quality of the 24-year-old Uruguay international, particularly after his fine assist for Vinicius Junior’s winner in this year’s final against the Merseysiders.
Liverpool agreed to pay £85m (add-ons included) this summer for one Uruguayan, striker Darwin Nunez, and they were believed to be willing to pay that much for Valverde as well. However, Real refused to even negotiate on the subject as Casemiro’s transfer to Manchester United appeared on the horizon. That was apparently the reason why Liverpool eventually signed Arthur Melo on loan for the rest of the season.
Nonetheless, a midfield overhaul is expected to take place at Anfield at the end of the current season, and even though the name spoken the loudest in that aspect right now is Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, a potential move for Valverde shouldn’t come as a surprise either.
