Liverpool are set to begin negotiations with Lyon for Nabil Fekir, according to various sources including journalists from The Times, The Telegraph and Liverpool Echo.
The Reds have thoroughly scouted the French international over throughout the season, and Jürgen Klopp believes Fekir would be a fantastic addition to his attacking options, as well as a high-class replacement for Philippe Coutinho who was sold to Barcelona in January for €160million. It is believed that Fekir would cost Liverpool around €70million.
The player himself recently told L’Equipe that nobody signs a contract for life and that he aims to talk to Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas about a possible departure. On the other hand, Aulas said that only a “very, very rich” club would be able to sign Fekir this summer.
However, having been substituted in the 84th minute of Lyon’s last game of the season, Fekir cried as he left the pitch, while Canal+ recently stated the deal was ‘99% done’.
