Liverpool are today expected to complete the signing of Iago Aspas, after the striker arrived on Merseyside for a medical on Monday evening, the Express understands.
The 25 year old, who helped Celta Vigo secure survival in La Liga on the final day of the season, cancelled a Caribbean holiday too see through the £7.2millon pound deal, which has been on the verge of completion for some weeks.
He will become the club’s second new addition of the season following the free transfer of defender Kolo Toure from Manchester City.
The Reds also appear to be close to agreeing a deal for Aspas’ Spanish counterpart Luis Alberto.
The Sevilla striker spend last season on loan with Barcelona B, where he scored eleven goals in thirty-eight league appearances.
One other player on the clubs radar is Sporting Lisbon defender Tiago Ilori, though Valencia are also interested in signing the Portuguese Under 21 international.
