Liverpool are preparing to put a new contract on the table for Naby Keita to sign, according to Calciomercato.
The midfielder arrived to Merseyside as a big-money signing from RB Leipzig in 2018, but his impact at the club has so far been rather limited due to injuries. Whenever he returned to the side after an absence, another problem would soon appear, putting him out of action for a relatively long time. Last season, he made no more than 16 appearances in all competitions, an all-time low in his Liverpool career so far.
However, the 26-year-old Guinea international looks very good at the moment, and his contribution to the excellent start to 2021-22 Jurgen Klopp’s team have enjoyed has been notable, topped off by a superb volley he scored in their 3-0 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.
There has been talk about the Reds potentially moving on from him due to the unreliability of his fitness, but it seems the club feel quite differently about it at the moment.
