According to the Liverpool Echo, Rafa Benitez is ready to turn his attention to Albert Riera as hopes of bringing Gareth Barry to Anfield seem to have ebbed significantly.
The Espanyol winger has been on Rafa Benitez’s radar for some time and is considered to be a suitable choice to fill the Reds’ troublesome left wing spot.
The 26-year old has already made it clear that he would relish a move to Anfield if Liverpool were to make a concrete offer for his services. A bid could now be imminent with the Reds’ move for Barry now being water under the bridge.
The Liverpool board refused to meet Aston Villa’s £18 million valuation for the English midfielder, believing it to be far in excess of what the player is worth.
