Liverpool told to wait for Marcos Rojo
Premier League giants Liverpool have been informed they will have to wait until after the 2014 World Cup if they want to sign Sporting Lisbon starlet Marcos Rojo, reports O Jogo.
The highly rated full-back is reportedly high on club’s wish list following some impressive performances in the Primeira Liga this season.
And while the Reds are hoping to wrap up the deal for the Argentine footballer as soon as possible, Sporting Lisbon will only negotiate the sale after the upcoming World Cup.
Namely, with Rojo a first team regular for Argentine, the Lions believe the player’s value will increase during the tournament finals and plan to act accordingly.
Taking also into account that Sporting only own 25% of the defender’s contract, it is hardly surprising they are looking to get the best possible deal.
Marcos Rojo, 24, has made a total of 48 league appearances for the Lions since arriving from Spartak Moscow, scoring 5 goals in the process.
The Reds travel to Selhurst Park this evening hoping to keep their title hopes alive, with away win paying 4/11.
Lyon to keep hold of Gourcuff
Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has moved to deny speculations linking star midfielder Yoann Gourcuff with a summer exit.
Having missed a big chunk of the season through various injuries, the former France international has been tipped to leave les Gones for greener pastures.
However, it appears that he will be staying after all, mostly because there are no clubs willing to meet Lyon’s asking price.
“It is more likely that he remains rather than we let him go given the fact he has played little this year,” Aulas told beIN Sport.
“Considering that he has played little this season, it will be difficult to find him a destination.”
Gourcuff was signed for €22 million from Bordeaux, whereas his gross salary stands at whopping €7.6 million per campaign.
The highly rated midfielder has never managed to justify the money invested in him, making just 72 league appearances for les Gones and scoring 11 goals.
Montpellier eyeing Andy Delort
Ligue 1 side Montpellier are readying summer bid for Tours striker Andy Delort, according to L’Equipe.
La Paillade are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements seeing as how M’Baye Niang, Victor Montano and Souleymane Camara are all tipped to leave in the summer.
As a result, Montpellier hope to wrap up the deal for Ligue 2 starlet Andy Delort, who has shown a great deal of potential this season.
Rennes were the first high-profile side to show interest in the player’s services, but latest reports suggest La Paillade are in pole position.
Following unsuccessful spells with Nimes, Ajaccio and Metz, the 22-year-old was finally given a real chance to impress at Troyes.
And he has been in stunning form this season, bagging no less than 19 goals in 33 Ligue 2 appearances for the club.
Delort looks set to capitalize on his first season as a regular starter, with a Ligue 1 move clearly on the cards.
