A report from the Daily Mirror suggests that Liverpool will not be prepared to make a £20 million bid for Chelsea striker Daniel Sturridge in the January transfer window.
However, the Reds would like to take the out-of-favour front-man on loan in the New Year, with the possibility if a permanent move next summer.
Brendan Rodgers is really struggling for attackers at the moment and for this weekend’s English Premier League tie against Reading, he only has Luis Suarez to call upon as an out-and-out striker.
Sturridge has fallen well down the pecking order at Chelsea and looks as though he will spend the majority of the campaign sitting on the bench, something he is not happy to do.
With just 18 months left on his current contract at the club, the Blues are keen to make some money on the England international, instead of him leaving on a free in over a year’s time.
Rodgers did try to sign the Englishman last summer, but the deal never went through, but it does not seem as though the Liverpool boss has given up hope on him.
It is also thought that he is keeping an eye on both Darren Bent and Demba Ba.
