Liverpool wanted to sign Thomas Muller

German media outlet Sport Bild claims that Premier League giants Liverpool attempted to recruit Thomas Muller from Bayern Munich earlier this summer.

It is no secret that the Catalans wanted to lure Philippe Coutinho to Camp Nou, but they ultimately failed to reach an agreement with the Reds.

And while Barcelona chairman Josep Maria Bartomeu claims Liverpool wanted €200 million for the Brazilian, Sport Bild has suggested that was not the main reason why the deal fell through.

Namely, the German newspaper understands that the Reds would have allowed Coutinho to leave had they signed Thomas Muller as his replacement.

But, with Bayern Munich not prepared to let the star forward leave, they decided to hold on to the Brazilian.

Philippe Coutinho is being eased back into the side after coming to terms with staying at Anfield and he could start Saturday’s clash against Leicester, where the Reds are 17/20 to emerge victorious.
