The Guardian are today reporting that Liverpool have an asking price of at least £22 million for their defender Daniel Agger, who is a target for Manchester City.
This sort of price could put the English Premier League Champions off as the 27-year-old has had his injury problems in the past. However, if any team can afford them then City are the ones that can.
Roberto Mancini seems to be on the lookout for a versatile defender, something that Agger certainly is.
The Danish international has two years left on his current deal at Anfield but a new contract has not been finalised yet.
Mancini apparently values Agger at £17 million and will be reluctant to pay any more than this. If he is a big target for the Italian boss though, then he may be willing to splash the cash on him.
No offer has been submitted yet though but with just over three weeks left in the transfer window, City will want to get a deal done fairly soon.
Agger will know that these next couple of years in his career should be his best in football and he will want to play at the highest level possible, which is – the Champions League.
