Liverpool were euphoric about selling Coutinho

According to a recent report from Sport, there were believed to be signs of euphoria behind the scenes at Anfield when Liverpool sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona last year. The move had been heavily rumoured for quite some time, with the Brazilian edging his way closer and closer towards the exit door for months. In the end, the Spanish giants were able to lure him over to the Nou Camp for an extravagant fee, but one year on, you have to wonder whether or not Barca managed to get what they paid for.

The belief was that Liverpool did not believe Coutinho fit into the system under Jurgen Klopp, which is why they decided to go ahead with the deal. He was certainly able to prove himself in the Premier League during his stay, but as we all know, La Liga is an entirely different conversation and serves up a very different style of play.
