(GSM) – Liverpool are prepared to sell Steven Gerrard this summer.
The Independent says the board of the club would allow Gerrard to leave if he wants to, providing that the interested club made a suitable offer. The Reds’ captain has been strongly linked to Real Madrid.
While Gerrard may leave the club, the board insist Fernando Torres must stay at Anfield next season. The difference in attitudes towards the two players is because Liverpool feel that they would owe Gerrard the right to move to another club after 12 years of loyal service.
They do not feel the same debt towards the Spanish who signed a new five-year deal in May last year and only arrived ahead of the 2007/08 season.
