Premier League giants Liverpool are set to complete the signing of Spanish defender Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid, reports AS.
The Reds have reportedly reached an agreement with the player’s employers, but details of the transfer have yet to be disclosed.
Javier Manquillo arrives at Anfield to compete with England international Glen Johnson and youngster Jon Flanagan for a starting berth at right-back.
The 20-year-old was also linked to Arsenal and Marseille, but he ultimately opted to accept an offer from Liverpool and is expected to sign his contract in the coming days.
Javi Manquillo has long been considered one of club’s hottest prospects, but he was unable to break into first team plans of Diego Simeone.
With Juanfran an undisputed starter, the Spain Under-21 international only made seven appearances across all competitions last season.
Manquillo could find it hard to nail down a regular starting berth at Anfield as well, but it appears he could not resist the temptation of joining the Premier League giants.
