Liverpool’s Joe Gomez unwilling to join Aston Villa?

Liverpool central defender Joe Gomez is unlikely to join Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, according to The Mirror. Villa manager Gerrard, a Liverpool legend, wants to sign Gomez, who can also operate as a right-back, but the player himself is unwilling to leave an elite club and move to a team who will not finish in the top half of the Premier League table this season.

Gomez has made three starts and four substitute appearances in the Premier League for Liverpool so far this season, providing one assist in the process. The 24-year-old has made two starts and five substitute appearances in the Champions League for Jurgen Klopp’s side this campaign.

Liverpool are a point behind leaders and defending champions Manchester City in second place in the Premier League table at the moment, while Villa are currently 13th in the standings.
