Ljungberg makes a switch to Japan

Former Arsenal midfielder Fredrik Ljungberg has completed his move to Japanese side Shimizu S-Pulse.

The reports suggesting the Swedish player will sign for Shimizu S-Pulse emerged last week, but the Japanese side had to wait until the player was granted a work permit before announcing the deal on their official website.

The 34-year-old has been a free agent since being released from his contract at Celtic earlier this summer.

The details of the deal were not disclosed, but Ljungberg is believed to have signed a one-and-a-half year contract with the J-League side.

The player’s career has taken a wrong turn since leaving Arsenal in 2007, as the winger failed to impress during short spells at West Ham, Seattle, Chicago Fire and Celtic.
